Anorexic Condition

An is a person who is suffering from anorexia nervosa.  Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder which is characterized by low body weight.  This low body weight is controlled by voluntary starvation, purging, vomiting, excessive exercise, or other weight control measures, such as diet pills or diuretic drugs.  The typical is a young adolescent girl, with a low self esteem.  It is a complex condition, involving psychological, neurobiological, and sociological components.

The following are some of the main symptoms of an person:

2.    Fear of gaining weight or becoming fat.
3.    Denial of the seriousness of the current low body weight.
4.    Or other eating related disorders.

The condition is difficult to treat, with one of the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder, with approximately 10% mortality rate. The suicide rate of people with anorexia is also higher and is a major cause of death for those with the condition. It is estimated that less than one-half recover fully, one-third improve, and 20% remain chronically ill.  But with early diagnosis and treatment, there is hope for the person suffering from anorexia.
